Customer Rating: Summary: Interesting book Comment: The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, A Toltec Wisdom Book by Don Miguel Ruiz is a book that presents a simple code of behavior taught from Toltec ancestors. These ancient scientist preserved all the spiritual knowledge of the ancient ones. All the information from all the spiritual masters who taught on this earth are presented in this book. The Four Agreements are, Be Impeccable With Your Words, Don't Take Anything Personally, Don't Make Assumptions and finally Always Do Your Best.
If you are leaning toward more modern spiritual advice may I suggest a down to earth book on the miracles of God and who exactly He is, and what you will do in the after-life then I suggest you read a great book entitled "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me After One Million Prayers: A Message for Everyone," by John H. Eagan. It brought me to tears. It's great and also deals with Jesus' Passion. I think if you liked Miguel Ruiz's book you will love this book.
Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't like the spiritism Comment: I was initially interested in this book for the personal growth factor and knew there would be some spiritism that doesn't agree with my beliefs, I was able to "chew the meat and spit out the bones" for some of it but there was a lot language that I felt wasn't necessary that was against my own beliefs. I think the points could have been made and gotten across without some of the offensive language, such as the generalism of how people are brought up and taught. I disagreed with much of what was said.
The "Four Agreements" itself were good and true and could see how they would only benefit anyone, but there really were no instructions on practicing them. It is as if someone were to tell a depressed person to stop being a depressed or an overweight person to stop eating so much.
We all probably know not to take things personally, but how do you go about doing this? This (#2) is my biggest challenge in life, and although I also had the workbook to refer to, it was riddled with spiritism and toltec language that I don't want to implement in my life or my beliefs.
Fortunately I borrowed this book so no monetary loss was experienced.
Customer Rating: Summary: Life changing! Comment: This book is life changing. Implementing the principles of the four agreements is a key to being at peace with yourself. It's a great complement to Pearls of Wellness (Pearls of Wellness 52 Inspirations to Achieve a Peaceful Body, Mind, and Spirit).
Customer Rating: Summary: Nothing but a whole bunch of fluff. Comment: Sometimes the most obvious answers are overlooked, which is why I enjoyed the inside flap of this book.
I could have done without the rest of it, however.
I completely agree with another reviewer that the author's writing style is way too repetitive. I guess that's to be expected when you're faced with the task of turning four sentences into a full-blown book.
As you can imagine, really painful to read through.
It kind of reminded me of when I was in elementary school and I had to write three full paragraphs about why orange was my favorite color.
The most important parts of the book are already revealed in the description Amazon has provided, so I suggest you save yourself the money as you already know what's going on.
I am returning the book the same day I bought and read it.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Four Agreements Comment: The Four Agreements is such a simple and powerfull book!I feel that if everyone in the world read it with an open mind...the world would be a much more peacefull place.

Rooted in traditional Toltec wisdom beliefs, four agreements in life are essential steps on the path to personal freedom. As beliefs are transformed through maintaining these agreements, shamanic teacher and healer don Miguel Ruiz asserts lives will "become filled with grace, peace, and unconditional love."
