Summary: Nice big screen, but doesn't find all locations
Comment: I bought a Garmin StreetPilot 7200 for my elderly parents. It has a nice big screen which makes it easy for my parents to use (ie. their vision and coordination isn't so good). The big screen is definitely a win.

But they occasionally called me to tell me the 7200 wasn't finding locations that they wanted to navigate to. I assumed it was just user error until I tried it. When they enter "Kernan Hospital" or "Kernan Drive" near Baltimore, the 7200 couldn't find it. Even though these two locations are clearly in the database (they show up on the map if you manually zoom to the location).[...]

I contacted Garmin and they sent me a form-letter saying thanks for finding the bug with our maps database data. Since my parents reported this sort of problem for several well known locations in the Baltimore area, this makes me wonder what percentage of locations are not findable by the 7200?

In anycase, since the 7200 can't find the hospital that my parents need to go to, I'm going to return it.

One other small note. I couldn't find a bean-bag style friction mount for this Garmin, probably because it's so large. I had to by another beanbag mount and manually drill holes to mount the 7200 onto it. Definitely a hassle.

Summary: Gets you were you have to go
Comment: Its ok but does not store its own power must be pluged in at all times. I had a problem with device and they fixed it first and then sealed very carefully to appear it was never opened and returned to sender to avoid post office fees. fast service

Summary: large GPS
Comment: Large GPS advertised for a Truck. I drive a Volvo Suv and feel the 7" display to be great. With my RAM's 6" extension arm mount, it sits at the 1:30 position just behind the steering wheel and does not hide anything. With a slight glance at the large screen I see everything I need and the touch screen is positioned perfectly to make simple inputs to it's data base. Great sise for a SUV.

Summary: Stress Reliever
Comment: I bought the Garmin 7200 for the big 7" screen to use in our motor home. I did a lot of searching and reading forums before deciding on this one. The text to speech is the greatest as it tells me to move to the right lane more than enough advance of the exit or turn, very important driving a motor home or any vehicle for that matter. If I make a wrong turn it directs me right back to the my route. My wife is the navigator and says it is the best addition to the motor home. She says it is a big stress reliever. We can go off the scheduled route and get right back on in the shortest time without worry. The POI's are wonderful, National Parks, gas stations, stores almost anything.

Summary: Garmin 7200
Comment: I have been using a Garmin GPS III for 9 years now and find the screen to small to see both in the car and in the RV. We have used a computer with map software in the RV, but found the screen hard to see in the bright sun. I wanted a new GPS with a BIG screen and the ability to see it in the daylight, and simple enough the wife can operate it as we travel.
The Garmin STP 7200 meets all those reqirement, although it is a bit large when used in our car. We have been on a couple of trips with it now and found it to be accurate for the most part. It at least got us close enough to see the place we wanted. (I have yet to find any GPS mapping software that is 100% accurate.)
After purchaing the unit we found out about the downloadable POI (Points Of Interest) files that are available on the internet. They are a great addition to the built-in points of intetest.
Also after the last trip out, where we spent a hour sitting in a construction project, we discovered the "Detour" button that routes you around a traffic jam. All in all I am quite happy with the STP 7200 and wish I hadn't waited so long to get one. It ought to be great on the next RV trip. For use only in a car I might consider a smaller unit.
You can load MP3 files and audio books and play them through the unit if desired, It would be nice if it would play video files as well. It does have video input capabilities, so I may get the cables and see if I can hook up my video iPod to play through it.

Editorial Reviews:

The StreetPilot 7200's huge 7-inch touch-screen display means you'll always see where you're going, from anywhere in the vehicle. Designed for larger vehicles such as RVs, semi-trucks, and buses, it is a premium automotive unit that comes preloaded with City Navigator NT detailed maps of North America. With the purchase of an optional sensor (not included), the unit notifies the driver of accidents, road construction and weather-related traffic delays before they are encountered (requires subscription, traffic service only for select cities where coverage exists). Either of two optional purchase sensors can provide these features, the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic sensor or the GXM 30 Smart Antenna (separate purchase required). In addition to traffic data, the GXM 30 provides real-time satellite weather information. The 7200 model features all of Garmin's well-known GPS functions, including intuitive navigation and automatic route calculation; voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions; 2D or 3D map view; and automatic rerouting if a motorist strays off course. With its POI Loader software, users can load custom points-of-interest such as school zones or safety cameras. The StreetPilot 7200 also includes entertainment options, including an internal MP3 player, XM radio, and playback of audio books. The built-in MP3 player lets users browse music by artist, album, song, or genre. The XM Radio (with the optional GXM 30 Smart Antenna and XM Satellite Radio subscription - not included) features 150-plus channels of commercial-free entertainment. The StreetPilot 7200 is also compatible with www.audible.com, a subscription-based audio book service. The face of the StreetPilot 7200 only has one button, an on/off switch. Using simplicity to manage complexity is a hallmark of the quality from Garmin, the premier maker of GPS products.
