Summary: I don't want Amy Winehouse, I want Diana Ross!
Comment: Why should I listen to Amy Winehouse, when I know that Diana Ross can sing better than her?

That being said, this album is a complete joke. Why listen to this when I know that Miss Diana Ross is much better? Rehab indeed! Amy Winehouse is not Soul music, never was, and never will be. You want Soul? Then I suggest the music from Miss Diana Ross. This Cd is not recommended.

If you fools who eat up this woman Amy Winehouse's so-called music want to attack me, then go ahead and try. I'll just lash out at you with more poisonous words.

Viva La Ross!

Summary: the upmost degrees of terrific!
Comment: I have mostly praise for this music! This entertainer is soulful sounding & takes me back to 'days long past' when felted hats for men and bun styles for women were the status quo :o) I loved all but the remake of one of the songs (that included 'rap') don't mess with what works, Amy. Keep it old style! Amazing music, and voice! I hope she keeps her life clean & keeps making this music!!!

Summary: Unpretentious while un-disguised superhuman talent
Comment: Amy Winehouse cannot be concealed any longer. Whinehouse is surpassing in talent of what has been put out since vinyl went digital! This album is a phenomenal achievement as she bridges soul with a throwback to yesteryear. The 60s? Arguably, she has much earlier influences. Nevertheless, I believe that the band really comes alive by the muse of her inspiration. Joshua Alston of Newsweek describes her as "a perfect storm of sex kitten, raw talent and poor impulse control." I simply say she's a genius and to keep the record button on, while wishing her a prosperous and prolific career.

Editorial Reviews:

Hailed by Newsweek Magazine as a cross between Billie Holiday and Lauryn Hill, British soul singer Amy Winehouse's U.S. debut, Back To Black hits the US amid a flurry of accolades, radio and TV buzz unprecedented in recent years for a young siren.

Her brassy mix of emotive vocals tinged with 60's girl-group stylings, sly funk, and anguished jazz, sparked the New York Daily News to crown Back To Black a "marvelous debut that would do Etta James proud" while New Yorker Magazine called her "a fierce English performer whose voice combines the smoky depths of a jazz chanteuse with the heated passion of a soul singer," and Spin Magazine affirming "there's never been A British star quite like her."

Back To Black smolders with a bristling fusion of old school doo-wop/soul inflected uprisings, (the charismatic singer/songwriter wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album) brewing instant classics such as the Shirley Ellis influenced "Rehab," the Supremes tinged title song "Back To Black," the aching "Wake Up Alone," and the album's closer, "Addicted."
